地球温暖化ガス削減と原子力発電
ラッド首相が法案可決を目指した、地球温暖化ガス削減関連法案の炭素汚染削減計画（ＣＰＲＳ）が上院で否決されました。上院で多数を占める野党自由党が、二酸化炭素（ＣＯ２）排出量の多い石炭産業などへの影響を懸念して反対しているからです。自由党の新しい党首は、原子力発電も選択肢に入れると言っています。これに緑の党が反発しました。

Australia would never support the pro-nuclear push of the new-look coalition, says Greens leader Bob Brown. New Liberal leader Tony Abbott said on Wednesday he was not a "theological opponent" of nuclear power and refused to rule out it becoming coalition policy. "I would be surprised if we don't one day have nuclear power stations in Australia," he said. (More) Discussion Questions: 1. How would you feel if your country depended heavily on nuclear power ? 2.
